Lived Theology on Death Row: The Story of Kelly Gissendaner (audio)

Lecture given by Jennifer McBride at St. Paul’s Memorial Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. The lecture begins at minute marker 6:20. McBride tells the story of Kelly Gissendaner, an inmate on death row who found hope and redemption through her theological engagement with God. Along with a community of supporters, McBride fought with Gissendaner to appeal her death sentence, so that she could continue to be an active and encouraging force to others in the prison system. Gissendaner was executed by the state of Georgia on September 30, 2015, but her message of hope lives on. For a listing of all our Occasional Lectures, click here.
