Recording of a conversation with John M. Perkins and Charles Marsh during the Spring Institute for Lived Theology 2009 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Marsh and Perkins discuss Perkins’ life story, from his arduous and painful childhood in Mississippi and life in California, back to Mississippi and the civil rights movement. After the conversation, there is a Q&A.

Excerpt: “The more I came to faith in Jesus Christ, the more I discovered what was my driving force, I desired to be loved….That morning I realized there was a God in heaven that loved me, and that God embraced me, and I was afraid for that God because I was so contaminated and so sinful, yet he loved me.”
