A New Era of Bonhoeffer Interpretation (audio)
Posted on April 3, 2015 by PLT Staff
Lecture given by Victoria Barnett at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Barnett argues that academia is entering a new era of interpretation of the works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. She argues that his is in part due to the complete interpretation of Bonhoeffer’s work into English, as well the entrance of young new scholars into the interpretive field, introducing new perspectives. Barnett goes on to discuss some barriers to understanding and interpreting Bonhoeffer, including the vast quantity of his writings. For a listing of all our Occasional Lectures, click here.
Excerpt: “There’s so much here. Everybody has retold the story so many times there’s a danger of people being stuck in a certain historiographical groove and not really being able to see that there are other perspectives.”
