In this document, Ed King recalls returning from New England to attend his father’s funeral in Vicksburg, Mississippi in the spring of 1963. King describes the hateful reactions of family friends to his civil rights work when they see him at the funeral service. King’s ancestry was a group of hard-working WASPs from the South whose racism was palpable.
