Tom, an alumnus of Mississippi college, wrote a letter to D.M. Nelson, president of Mississippi College, arguing for the admission of Black and female students to further realize the school’s Christian beliefs. Nelson responds with a virulent defense of racial superiority, segregation, and white southern culture.
