Sustainability, Social Justice and Christian Ethics

Posted on March 31, 2015 by PLT Staff

Lecture given by Willis Jenkins at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Jenkins discusses lived theology and Christian ethics along with the necessity of finding new Christian ways of life and expansions of ethics in order to address new social problems such as climate change. Excerpt: “The most important interpretive resources lie in what a community is doing, however problematically and imperfectly. What a community says it believes and even what it already does matters less than the potential of the strategies it is organizing. Ethicists can help realize the potential of those strategies by cultivating and criticizing a community’s initial responses, working to make their trajectory more competent to the problems they face.”
